If I had money to buy Poker.com at $30mil I would with out thinking about it.

If you follow those sites they make killing online.

OK site has about 5000 tables going at once and rake on each one lets say they rake on 1000 of them $5 max and rest $1 each that is $9,000 in their pocket for every hand played .. Now see how many hands are played every day. They make $1mil a day with no problem I am sure of that (not profit money but made money for the day.) Now they got to pay support , advertisement, and shit like that but even then $30mil is not unresonable price if you ask me.

Cheers my 2c

I was at CAC, just got back, and there is very little talk of the auction. The general chat in the bars is that the auction is full of crap names and silly reserves: not really Moniker's fault mind you, though a smaller, better selected list with traffic info might have been better. No-one I spoke to showed any interest in bidding.

The one or two I spoke to who showed an interest said that there wasn't enough info, or time to check up on, revenue/stats/links etc before the auction started, nor was their much inclination with over 900 names on the list.

Regards Poker.com I'm also of the school of thought that this is a business. To call it a "domain auction" is somewhat misleading IMO. I also think, while poker will obviously stay around, it's peaked. Even the TV channels are starting to slowly disappear again. Just IMO though :)

I think poker.com is well worth the asking price, infact many new gambling houses are opening all the time here in the USA. Trump would think nothing of paying 30 million, poker.com is a power sign for the biggest and best gambling house.

If you don't own poker.com, then you are not the best as it's a sure sign of the best. It's worth goes beyond just the name, it is THE name to have that nothing else will do. You wear the name, and tell everyone that you own poker.com. You could sit on the name, and some time down the road make a mint selling it for lots more.

While people see they banned internet gambling, they don't see all the states racing at building new gambling houses. And even counting on the TAX that will make on them, PA is one such state that are letting gambling in the state for the first time. Many other states are doing the same, but things are slow as states red type slows things down. But the bottom line is, all these new gambling houses.

Will not make out so great, as more and more pop up. There for they will move online I'm sure, they will need to work out TAX with states and feds, but I'm sure they will work it out. They will not likley let that kind of money they invested, into gambling house not bring them all kinds of money in TAX. The States are spending lots of money, to get these new gambling passed and up and running not to go online. Many of the states took big hits all around, so that tells you they got some thing big in mind.

Well clearly if you pull the biggest source of revenue by banning it in the states, there is less money in the industry for marketing and if there is less money in the industry for marketing there is less sponsorship to fund the TV channels and it is a downward spiral.

I expect that things will improve as poker companies go into other markets but if there is a reversal of the ban, things will come back with a vengeance and a lot of people see this current state of affairs as being unsustainable.

Therefore "Poker.com" is and will always be a hot property.

Definately - don't dispute that at all. But even for poker players, $22mil is one hell of a pot when you ain't even seen the Flop yet :D

When I see poker.com, I don't think of a poker portal. I think of the gambling house, that is at the domain. Will have the upper edge, over all the other gambling houses. Infact a poker portal with ads would not even come close, to it's worth to a gambling house at it ever.

Hi,

If they repeal the online poker gambling ban here in th US (which I think they will do)...the domain poker .net has to be of great advertising value to advertise any poker site, but for poker .com...I would think it would become a "must own" domain. I believe here in the US that you will/would only be able to advertise a free type poker site using only the .net extention. I don't think they allow advertising for the .com verision.

Just a thought...

Peace,
Dan

Latest about Poker.com:

Poker.com Domain Name in Limbo

Moniker.com remains tight lipped as to the circumstances surrounding its silent auction of the domain name "Poker.com" but Gambling911.com can report that there will be no official announcement of a purchaser or purchase price over the next several days.

"Something has happened here," our sources can reveal, and it is not pretty.

Other domain names were sold in the silent auction that took place during CAP Amsterdam two weeks ago, some selling in the millions (including Scores.com).

But it is the most desired domain name on the Net, Poker.com, that has everyone at the edge of their seats wondering who the buyer might be and how much they fetched the name for.

"The outcome may have people scratching their heads," our source disclosed. "A wrench was thrown in here."
