The domain has been under continuous ownership since first registered by in August 1995.

I've been in the online marketing business since early 1994... I was one of the founders of the industry, and I have a number of very good domains... With regard to the suggestion that the domain be put up in a highly visible auction... been there done that before. You may recall in the last days of 1999, the year2000.com domain was put up for sale on eBay, and it received global news coverage as the bids went up to $10,000,000. That was one of my domains. It turned out that many of the bids were fraudulent, the auction had to be scrapped, and the experience caused eBay to change they way they do high dollar sales. We probably could have/should have sued them for it, but sometimes life is too short. I ended up finally selling that domain just this last February for a nice five figure amount, but it was far short of $10M. Still, we made a fortune on the year2000.com site in the pre-2000 days, and I have no complaints on my experience with owning that domain.
