Hi
Just stumbled across a recently expired domain with Google PR = 3.
Does it worth registering ? Does the PR3 means that it gets traffic so I can park it or should I just use it to link to my current web sites ?

10x !!!

I'm not really sure, I don't know much at all about PR. But I'd probably buy the site if it was cheap, based on newbie instinct.

Another question on PR.... If only 1 website links to me, but it has a PR of 8, then would I get a PR of something like 5? I saw one site with PR4 solely due to 1 PR5 site linking to it. Could someone clear this up?

its hard to tell - maybe a 4-5 and 6(within a few updates) -

in general

Also its very hard for a PR 8 to link to you unless you have a similar PR as webmasters with PR's of 7+ are usually selective.

You might get a PR4 from a PR5 site (link), as it depends on the number of outgoing links on that site.

I don't see that PR plays a very useful role other than helping to index large sites these days.

I believe GPR is way over-valued and it's odd on how G calculates it, speaking from my experience. I have some websites which are relatively new and few links but somehow have good PR and other sites which have been online for a number of yrs with nice links but have a PR of 0.

PR also seems to sometimes make little if any difference as far as traffic goes, what with owning some PR4 or PR5 sites which get very light traffic, and are also difficult to find in Google in spite of the good PR.

Of course PR can be here today and gone tomorrow, a big negative to its value.

PR is only a very very ballpark figure - and I don't think the mechanism used by Google accurately depicts the REAL level of importance.

What it does give is an gross, internet level of importance. Sites which are important on the internet are always ahead.

I have something in mind for a slightly better system; but of course, I am not one-millionth as powerful as Google to implement it.

Yeah, PR is weird, I have 2 sites both PR5, one receives about 250 unique visitors a day, the other, 3400 Uniques a day, makes no sense, backlink shows a much larger number for the 2nd site as well, yet both for some reason are PR5, and stayed the same at last update.

It matters on many other factors; most importantly the PR of the sites which link; as well as no. of outbound links.

It doesn't tell you which site receives most traffic. Instead, it tells you which site is most important.

Just treat it as a new domain and if u get extra benefit, it's yours, I wont think considering the cost. I am sure you did the same.

I beleived the same thing, but I disagree. It works. I now have some domains that are listed in Yahoo and DMOZ and have PR. And they are expired domains.
