Obviously a company that knows they are not up to par, and supposedly doesn't care about the negative posts about them, has some issues when they register "RegisterFlySucks.com" for themselves....
Maybe the used GoDaddy's "Domain Name Blocking" service... :cheeky:

I have close to 100 domains and about 80 of them are at RegisterFly

These are my wishlist for the new features.

1) Displaying of the auth code for .org (enom provides it)

RF has the auth code displayed on the page where you change your whois info for all EPP domains.

Mark,

This is typical corporate domain protection by the registrar. We do the same for our corporate clients.

"Check out the whois records for these:

SonySucks.com
GoogleSucks.com
FordSucks.com
SharpSucks.com

Yes, that was my point. It's not uncommon.

Yes, but the aforementioned companies have customer support who actually address consumer concern, not a bunch of relatives in an apartment in New Jersey who know nothing about domains like RF....

Are they really stacked up like that?
Funny. Too funny.

Yeah well if you can believe the auth codes are right. I've had a go around with Regfly for 2 months to get the right auth codes. Enom changed them (they said) and regfly still showed the old auth codes. Couldn't get any help from Regfly and actually lost some names due to their unconcern.

ICANN posted a new rule on transfers under consideration that would limit registrars to 5 days from request to comply with registrar transfers including auth code requests. Hopefully this will fix those problems in the future of registrars that think they can delay your transfer long enough to get a renewal from you. They will also have to give it electronically if they allow you to update whois electronically. They also won't be allowed to hold the code hostage over payment disputes.

It's only a draft, but looks like a good policy to implement to me.
http://www.icann.org/transfers/policy-30mar04.htm

The text:
5. EPP - based Registry Requirements for Registrars

In EPP-based gTLD Registries, Registrars must follow the requirements set forth below.

Registrars must provide the Registered Name Holder with the unique "AuthInfo" code within five (5) calendar days of the Registered Name Holder's initial request if the registrar does not provide facilities for the Registered Name Holder to generate and manage their own unique "AuthInfo" code.

Registrars may not employ any mechanism for complying with a Registered Name Holder's request to obtain the applicable "AuthInfo Code" that is more restrictive than the mechanisms used for changing any aspect of the Registered Name Holder's contact or name server information.

The Registrar of Record must not refuse to release an "AuthInfo Code" to the Registered Name Holder solely because there is a dispute between the Registered Name Holder and the Registrar over payment.

Registrar-generated "AuthInfo" codes must be unique on a per-domain basis.

The "Auth-Info" codes must be used solely to identify a Registered Name Holder, whereas the FOA's still need to be used for authorization or confirmation of a transfer request, as described in Section 2 and Section 4 of this policy.

Quality info, thanks Mark

Wish I could move some of my .ws names around more freely.
Though thats good news to all of us, the overall system still has flaws that restrict competition.

I have my share with unifiednames too.. so far I got no problems with regfly... but long time ago when they started namerenters they also started to show me how they do business.... its BAD... Tim Shore to be honest was a really pain in the neck for me at that time.... He gave me a lot of head ache... but anyway I decided to just let it go... its only $100 anyway...

Folks,

I may be able to help you get your Auth codes. We pull many names out of the enom system every day and have a pretty good contact their that makes sure codes are issued. The problem is that many enom auth codes for EPP names are not valid. They have to re-issue several times.

I am headed out on vacation tomorrow AM but if you email me your individual lists of names, where they are stuck, I will forward them (when I get back on line) to our contact to see if she can help.

Just got a renewal notice this morning from RegisterFly for a domain that I have already transferred away.
Damn it. Keep getting RegisterFly's renewal notices for a domain I've already transferred away more than 6 months ago. What's wrong with them?

They program their scripts to refuse to accept reality? Happens all the time with the so-called 3rd rate registrars, imho. Probably bought their domain management scripts from the back alley of some sleazy neighborhood.

If you look in the management reports, they do now have a link to synchronized your domain list and remove domains transferred out. I don't know why it isn't automatic, but at least it's there.

Reminds me of the old jingle
"..Rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it..."

Think I'd be afraid of using that sync and deleting viable domains.

It's kind of like going to your local supermarket where you know where everything is located only to find they've moved everything. I don't mind change for enhancement, but hate change for the sake of looks. I thnk the grey on white is hard to read as well.

Oh, Well....
