Need basic professional seacrh engine which import revenuepilot.com feeds and seachfeed.com feeds. Have a great one for 6 letter catchy domain. This will bring in lots of press for your work guaranteed!

I also need a section where members can join and of course post their own links

needs to be like good but with google ad words between the seacrh box and logo. On results page logo ad words then listings

I do this stuff in my sleep. Do you have a functional specification done, how many hours are you budgeting for development, and what rate are you looking to pay?

For what you're wanting, $500 isn't even a start for development. Unless I miss your idea, it sounds like you're looking for real-time import from two sources, database integration as well as forms integration for customers to manage their listings.

For professional platform development, you'd best add an extra zero to your budget.

Cambler is 110% right. We would put together a team of programmers/coders and a designer to customize the design and integrate a backend. Even if you are looking at a simple design, the backend requires time and expertise. If your budget is 500 you would be hard pressed to find someone at that rate.

I would suggest going to a free lance site for your budget. An unspliced design can be $35 and you can still save about $100 for the programming job.

If you can get this done for that price, to your specifications and satisfaction, I say do it.

I do this for a living. I know better.

I am afraid of *lance sites. One good transaction, like 7 bad ones.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but www.searchbunny.com - this uses sponsor ppc results as well as unpaid results (provided by sponsor).

Ditto the previous remarks. IMO, people need to be shrewd, but budgets need to be realistic. That said, Pinpoint, it sounds like you can get this done by simply buying an existing script and someone to install it for you. That's all I'll say. Just ask more direct questions or search this forum.

If I work with extremely low budgeted projects, odds are... I KNOW you personally, or I see something I can get out of it (knowledge, partership, unfamiliar experience and the time for that luxury). A "portfolio piece" or "PR" willl rarely EVER satisfy these requirements. I've worked with Fortune 500 companies on websites and multimedia projects, and those were well worth it even for highlights on my resume (I could use them, and they could have used any number of people). Sub-$500 search engines, I'm hard pressed to see how it'd draw a lot of accollade for anyone either the buyer or myself (even with a good name). Odds are, if its successful, the programming will be swapped out as soon as real money starts coming in. "I wrote the original search engine for BlahBlah.com, but its not what they're using now. Boy, they sure must have paid something for that work..."

I'm talking to friends now who have a STELLAR one-word domain name under 10 characters, an Alexa ranking that was nearing 20,000 at one point, and an attractive business model... but until they raise some real funds ($5k), I can't even begin to write the internal listing search engine they need to engage the corporate sponsors looking to get involved.

so all being said who wants to do the first design?
You may want to look into free scripts from http://www.wwwsearchsolutions.com/products.php
http://www.wwwsearchsolutions.com/demo/searchfeed/

Couple of things to keep in mind:
If you are planning to integrate Adsense: Make separate page for each category otherwise all the adsense will be related to search engine and not based on the search engine result.
I use the javascript from searchfeed directly at
http://www.SurfAssist.com.

You may also want to look into the script by http://www.portxml.com/order.aspx
I use their script for Bid Comparisson purpose at
http://www.bidranks.com/index.php?terms=refinance&feed=sorted

The other good option is to buy sunengine.com http://www.dnforum.com/showthread.php?t=73413 and rebrand it as Yabbla.com
