It's yet another instance the haters will be trying to explain away with their 'hype' rubbish! I'm glad i'm 'all in' no matter what they now say!

Hate and Love are "emotional" words. They really don't belong in a "rational" discussion about whether or not an extension will work out. I don't see a long future for dotmobi but it has nothing to do with emotion. Just my rational analysis of whether or not it is necessary, it fills a need and how likely it is to be executed properly. Early sales of premium (or any) names won't impact my view any. Development and advertising of the extension as a brand is really the only thing that would change my mind. But I truly hope everyone here makes nice money in the meantime.

Just wondering...are we sure this suddenly make it legit? I know Ron is a great reporter, but just because he reports it, doesn't mean the sale occurred (although it does add some credibility).

How much info do you want GT? lol (see below for those who haven't been to dnjournal yet today)
Ron is one of the most respected Guys in the industry, as you say.
Also he knows the head of escrow, the seller, buyer etc.
This is a fabulous sale.
It is also a private sale so is not a 'hyped' sale. lol
What a day for mobi.
Anyone doing some press releases? lol

Second Highest .Mobi Sale To Date Heads New DN Journal Top 20
by Ron Jackson

A lot of jaws hit the floor when Flowers.mobi sold for $200,000 in an auction at the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. East conference in October. It was an unprecedented amount to pay for an unproven new extension and most assumed it was just a case of a wealthy buyer (Rick Schwartz) taking a big risk with money he could afford to lose. However the "isolated incident" theory was blown out of the water this week when another six-figure buyer bellied up to the .mobi bar. This time it was Sportsbook.mobi commanding the big bucks - a whopping $129,800 in a private sale that we carefully examined during our verification process.
handshake-photo.jpg
The seller, Sule Garba, originally brought the sale to our attention soon after it was completed in mid-December. He was willing to make details of the deal public but the buyer, who wishes to remain anonymous, wanted to delay an announcement while he pursued other related domains he had his eye on (it is our policy to honor non-disclosure requests that come from either party to a transaction). This week, the buyer (whose identity we know) agreed to release the information and the broker he was working with to acquire domains, SpareDomains.com, sent us the documentation we require before reporting a sale.
The exchange was handled by Escrow.com so I called the company's president, Brandon Abbey, to verify the information I had been given was accurate and that his company had completed the transfer of both the money and the domain. Abbey had to secure permission from both the buyer and seller before he could comment on the transaction, but once he had done so, he confirmed that the money was paid and the name delivered to the new owner.
The most amazing thing about this deal is that Garba says he registered the domain by hand in October for just over $30! The name was apparently registered during the .mobi sunrise period for trademark holders but was then released back into the general registration pool, possibly because the trademark claim was ruled to be invalid by the registry. Garba just happened to be at the right place at the right time.

If Ron says this is a legit sale then that is good enough for me. (I know from personal experience that Ron double checks everything out of the ordinary - thank you Ron.)

We will still get those who cry 'fake', etc., but unless they can produce evidence to the contrary all the evidence points that this was one hell of a great sale. Well done to both the seller and the buyer.

This sale reminds me of the night we were gathered around listening to webmaster radio at the last traffic auction! lol
Some never had the live audio link & were depending on others to type in the sales results. lol
As i rememeber there was quite a few of us, in particular myself, domain jedi, creature, azooza etc. there was a competition to get written down as quick as poss the sale result lol  & get it posted. i was losing almost every time lol
on the flowers.mobi i won, well sort of, i posted $12,000 wow, unbelievable or something lol
i kept going back & editing lol thinking it has to end lol
everyone was in shock at $200k so think noone noticed, i had edited my 'winning' post 50 times lol
it's time the harvester was started up again me thinks ;)

careful, someone may reg that typo of harvester, you've just mentioned! ;)
lol
there's some i'm holding for the longhaul. but am happy to still sell many for xxxx for turnover. i'm a sales man, not a traffic man so need regular sales.
there's so many great names left, no really! i'm waiting on a couple of sales to pay up, then i'm out there, braving the elements. dressed in my howling mad murdoch attire lol in the cab of my (not john deere) but 'predator' model, of which there is one! harvester ;)
got my eye on about another 30 handregges ;)

As ex Royal Navy and living in a fishing town i may go trawling instead of harvesting from now on!

Throw off the fore and aft painters

Three short blasts on the horn

Kick her astern

Throw off the aft spring

1/3 ahead

Lets see what we can trawl up from the depths!

We may be able to find some plaice.mobi (available) or even some bass.mobi but best of all we could find some sturgeon.mobi and have some caviar.mobi for tea! But thats only if the queen doesn't want the sturgeon.mobi of course!!!

lol. i actually own sturgeon.mobi
there's a few big companies with the name & there's the caviar angle, along with being brandable in its own right.
what a coincidence!
there's fresh mobis on the starboard bow skipper!

You could say that about any domain sale you see reported.

For all we know, they are all fake.

Pred, I have to agree, too many kids there spouting too much B*llsh*t. If this guy is the seller then well done to him, he was in the right place at the right time to reg the name, but serious congratulations on negotiating such a good price.

It would be interesting to hear the details of the negotiation for this name. I can't imagine how they arrived at that price. If I had had that name and was asked to give a BIN to a potential seller, I'd give a healthy amount but don't know if I would have dreamed of going that high.
