Really nice...not sure though if it is afflicted by being too generic. I personally would rather have it more targeted such as BaseballForum or SoccerForum - but none the less a great name. I would say more like 5-12k - I could be totally off though depending on who approaches wanting to buy.

I think the 3-5k is solid reseller.

Old, generic and...undeveloped. You can sell active, busy forums for six figures, but this one will have to be appraised "as is" for $40k max.

Most "Forum" domains are in the $10k and less price range. Search on the keyword FORUMS at dnsaleprice.com and do a sort on the highest price. You will see the few exceptions where $10k was exceeded.

I actualy think the topic Sports Forum is better than being about a specific sport, because the owner can create sections for each sport and have separate moderators if needed to be specialize. The monetization opportunities could be huge if the forum was well done, even though it does not have a brand name of an ESPN or SPORTINGNEWS level.

Look for sports bloggers as prospective buyers. A forum cast a wide net of ideas and perspectives from members that can help the blogger is ideas to post on. I don't see the big companies taking interest in this domain, because they are anal about their brand names being on everything.

Awesome name to develop. Definitely $10K but over $20K would be a hard sell even for this.

Reason being the forum revenue model is very slim pickings, so it's a long term investment to get that $50K back, so I think the buyer will have to be a sports fan more than just a businessman. k:

FORUM YEAR 2 = 20,000 members
FORUM YEAR 3 = 100,000 members

REVENUE YEAR 4 = $10K
REVENUE YEAR 5 = $10K
REVENUE YEAR 6 = $10K

REVENUE YEAR 8 = $10K


Starting a forum would be a better strategy than sitting on the domain though.

ESPN is the first brand that came to mind. Problem is, due to being so generic in nature, if one of the few global brands isn't interested, then you're basically appealing to developers with this domain, and thus, the price you can expect to get goes down considerably (even more so in this current climate).

It's a tough decision, its down to vb or xen.

Definitely a lean, clean name and sports is/are very popular - a sports forum site should attract a heck of a lot of advertisers given that there are so many varieties of high money sports - football, soccer, baseball, basketball - could have a cheerleaders gallery too where users post their favorite cheerleaders .. . well, maybe

I thought I had contributed to this discussion, but perhaps it was only in my head.

Nothing under $xx,xxx at the VERY least. Disregard current climate (in the US) and do NOT sell to a buyer on this forum as it's a shark market at the moment. Build it.

Agree also with above comments on the difficulty of building a forum / social site and even moreso: monetizing it. Sticky visitors = visitors who tune out traditional display ads so you will have to monetize using sponsorships and more ingenious ad models.
