Hi dcristo,

thanks for that.

it just depends how you see the name. I bought it as an old site with PR and traffic. I just liked the name as a website title. As soon as I re-built the site google started to rate it high for the phrase garden bench.

For about a year I have been top of the pile and a decent profit until google realized, or my competition complained, and then it was de-indexed.

I suppose the moral as such is that the 'the' did not spoil how google rated the name. So maybe they are worth more than we think.

anyway sounds like I should hang on to it and start a garden blog.

Why did it get deindexed? What were you using for?

It got de-indexed due to being an affiliate site that was getting in the way of paying competition I guess

No shady business - just a reasonable looking site

Perhaps you were considered a "thin" affiliate site with not enough unique content.

yes, I think you are right but this word 'thin' is open to personal opinion. In this instance I just got too successful at a valuable keyword without trying.

just shows how older names are given more weight in the rankings though
