Ok, I have cancelled the no bumping in sales area and it will be up to the mods in that area to watch for it.

I am still leaving the one post per 24 hours in sales there to protect from spamming.

The people spoke and I listened ;)

1 topic per person per 24 hours is great and I agree with that one. This stops people from posting 5 different domains in 5 different threads vs just 1 and will clean up the place a little.

Thanks.

It would be nice for threads to be closed by the creator in the wanted section so old ones are not brought back up 6 months later.

I think he means we need a new system, at least some order in the wanted forum....1 string per day isnt an issue, its more a problem because people dont listen to the buyer's wishes....but you cant really control that.

I also didnt like the new rule about bumping in the sales section, thanks for taking the time to listen to us DCG

Thanks DCG for all the changes. Once a thread reaches 30 days old in the domain wanted section, maybe it is then removed / deleted.

Well if there are new mods specificaly dedicted to each section then the domains wanted mod just pm's the author and asks if he is still looking. If not, thread closed, if yes he/she tells him to post that he is still looking, simple.

Hey Adam. I join in praising you for implementing much needed and meaningful changes around here!

My idea for the domains wanted forum is hardcore MODERATION! It could be SUCH a valuable resource to all of us!

But.... as it is now, it a bit of a joke, and that makes me sad! What a waste of a potentially tremendous resource! PRE-QUALIFIED buyers! WOW!

I and others have offered to moderate it, but were at the time ignored. How about let's make it everything it CAN be? :)

Webcat and others,

I agree the wanted section can be huge, to eliminate the threads popping up again and again months later, I have set the viewing to the last 30 days only.

Meaning if no activity in 30 days it slides off the view.

looked but can't find! ;)

Put in VB hacks to:-

A) Disallow bumping in the Sales section i.e. no matter how many replies are posted, threads stay in the order their first posts were posted

B) Limit new threads to once every 24 hours, per registered member

AFAIK hacks exist for both of the above and they would make the Sales section much more approachable, as well as enforcing the existing rules more effectively than relying on moderators since the 24-hour rule, for instance, would be 100% effective!

I wrote my own custom hack for those.
Also I added a feature to cost user DNF for posting on certain forum (sales forum).

Thread limiting (1 thread / day) and thread bumping should be implemented as a pair.

If bumping is allowed, thread starter can bump their thread few days back. So, some of their thread will be at the top.

Thanks for reversing the bump :) and 1 post a day in the sales section seems fair.

It is also very nice to see that many key players are now stepping up and offering to mod sections.

Your efforts are much appreaciated.

The response of people that wish to take part in making this a better place is huge.

How about dumping the User to User praise thread - it's like an eternal Oscars ceremony :-D
