Do I have to call support to get the authorization code in order to transfer a domain out?

Yes...and get ready for the sales pitch. They try very hard to get you to stay

They will go down to 7.49 on the reg fee.

Thanks :) It's a domain that was bought from BuyDomains, so I need to transfer it out.

you also need to check all your admin details for contact

register.com had put themselves as the admin for my domain, so when i put the transfer in, the email went to them instead of me.

i ended up having to renew for that year, but transferred it later

You are right, Don, Register.com was the technical admin which I changed.

There should be a link once you click on the domain name near the bottom it says "obtain auth code"

didn't think they would still be doing that bs

i called them out on that procedure when they did it to me a couple of years ago

no other registrar i know uses that tactic to hold domains.

I am going to check that out...I have never been able to find one. Is that new?

Sure enough....it has been added.

Finally...I do not have to call them to get their drops I have won.

Just looked and there is a link. I thought so. I have never had to speak to anyone in the past when initiating a transfer away from there before. I myself need to transfer a name from there soon and was hoping not to have to go through a big ordeal.
