Looking good on

http://inventory.fr.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

130 vendee.com
16600 vendee

Of course it is an IDN, so most of the officionados here will give it a big fat zero, but I reckon it is worth €x,xxx.

Best Regards
Dave Wrixon

Yes, the google results (including the advertisers) and especially the Overture look very interesting. Can't see any TM issue's so huge development opportunies, now that IE7 will support the IDN in the near future.

Thanks for your comment Dave,

Richard

Sorry, idn names are not used at all here in France.
Worthless, might be better to save your money for "real" domains.

Good luck anyway :)

That is an over generalised statement:

I know what I am talking about.
I hate stereotypes, so please be sure it is not an over generalized statement ;)

Good luck with the domain raw, inform us if you find a buyer.

I was actually being polite, you statment is not so much over generalized as factually incorrect.

I provided 13 IDN links to active website in France using French IDN. I could have gone on, but I thought that was enough to prove the point.

The fact is that anti-IDN lobby will not face accept facts, let alone rational argument. IDNs are not worthless. There have been a significant number of valuable domain sales with European IDN. There is a market for such domains, so how can you dismiss them as worthless?

To much of the world they are the future. Whilst, they will make no impact in the US market and the extent of the their future usage in Europe is still unclear, they are hear to stay and will gradually take on increasing significance.

I believe in countries where they are used to do far more than just provide accents, that because it is the only way to produce a domain stem that corresponds to the search terms being used, they they will soon come to dominate. The Chinese to date have largely made do with Acronyms, but IDN will allow them to express themselves in the way that they choose to. As China is soon to be the biggest online market place in the world bar none, they will be hugely significant. Localisation is about far more than registering in the local ccTLD, it is above providing a convenient interface for the end user.

In the Darwinian struggle of corporate survival, those that choose to provide the best access to their potential clients will survive. Those that try to impose a solution on the market just because it is too much hassle to pander to their Clients will fail. Once this lesson is taken on board by the big corporates, things will start to change very rapidly indeed.

This weeks sale of :

Défiscalisation.com
(French for "tax reduction") £10,000 = $17,669 Sedo

makes your assertions in regard to IDN look a little lame!

Bought by someone who do not understand domains ???
It is the first sale I have heard of an French idn name so I am unsure you can draw many conclusions here.
Miracles happen sometimes.

Anyway, it gives hopes of a better life to all "idn investors", so I suppose it is a good thing :goofy:

Frankly, IDN usuage in Europe is not central to the concept and to date misusuage of European IDNs has been counterproductive. It makes no difference to me really as I have only bought a few Czech ones for my Au Pair.

£10,000 is a lot to spend if you don't understand domains.

Might be better to start a new thread anyway.

here it goes:
I personaly dont believe in IDNs. But that is an opinion, and nothing else.
I have rarely seen IDN being sold in Europe for serious amounts, at least in the markets I am familiar with.
I think you can either hold the name and wait for (and if) IDNs take off, or try to sell it now for whatever you can get.
I do not think the name is worth more than very low $xxx as is at this time.
