I'd be interested in hearing any opinions about a pair of domains I have that use the word "VoIP." Namely,

consumervoip.com
voipweek.com

I'd appreciate any thoughts you have to share.

Thanks.

low to mid $xx

I bought flyvoip.com several months ago with intentions on developing it into a voip affiliate site, haven't gotten around to it, so I've been trying to sell it for $50 and have had no takers so far.

VOIP hasn't reached its full potential yet though..I think in a few years..voip domains might be worth a little more than $20. Just my opinions though.

Thanks for the input. I tend to agree with the valuations of comsumervoip.com -- undeveloped, probably not much. But as the industry continues to flounder about, trying to find itself, I think there's potential to develop a good site... The quality of that site being the key to potential profits, plus good search engine placement. Most of the people I know who are interested in bringing the technology into their home are a bit bewildered by which company offers the right features at the right price. Just reading the fine print of the contracts is an exercise that makes most people's eyes glaze over fairly early in the reading (incredibly, most seem to be written by people who make IBM's legendary turgid documentation seem like literary masterpieces). I see a lot of people who've given up trying to sort through the mess give up before reaching the real goodies, such as termination fees -- witness Packet8, which charges $50 or so termination fee if cancelled in the first year, even if you buy the equipment outright. I almost missed that one myself. I also see a shakeup in the consumer end coming very soon, which further increases the need for such a site.

VoIPWeek.com is more of a puzzle to me... I see that one as more aimed towards business use. They're been quite a few trade magazines that have used and are using the the name of an emerging technology + week, and the fact that they come from a variety of different publishers indicates no one has any kind of monopoly on the "technology + week" construction. Business Week, Eweek, and Internetweek spring to mind as three magazines each published by different companies

I use google's news search and there seems to be plenty of news crossing the wires every day to justify a weekly -- if not now, at some point in the near future. VoIPweek.com certainly seems an almost perfect name for such a venture. It sums up the nature of the magazine (or ezine) in eight easy to remember letters.

We shall see.
