Sorry but i just carnt see any value in these .tel names unless you had a name like were people wanted to phone up like pizzadelivery.tel or pizza.tel or taxi.tel i think the only other youse for other .tel names is for companies and most of them are trade marks .

I agree this isnt a good name for this extension. I gather its worth little to nothing but its also hard to come up with any real values on a brand new extension with no track record. But if you paid $300 for reg then thats not good.

Thank you for your opinions. Wanted.tel can have many sub domain uses which can be added to the contact pages. Here is a few examples

gold.wanted.tel
cars.wanted.tel
most.wanted.tel
info.wanted.tel
help.wanted.tel
domains.wanted.tel
offers.wanted.tel

There are curretly 3 .tel domains with bids in live sedo auctions

phoneshop.tel 110 euros
hire.tel 3,000 dollars
pornos.tel 70 dollars

This tells me that there is a market for .tel domains

Other .tels i have include

males.tel
tots.tel
tot.tel
carswanted.tel
cod.tel
sfa.tel

Any further opinions please?

Kind regards

I see your subdomain "vision" but I foresee a few problems. As far as I know, you can't resell subdomains on .tel so it can't be "sold" per se, it'd have to be an index or rented space. Secondly, the .tel structure and web interface, make it very hard to add, edit etc. such contact details. If one intends to have dozens or hundreds of such "folders" (as .tel calls them) the management can be pretty cumbersome. Unfortunately, .tel is not meant to be a web developer's dream, it's quite the opposite.

Yes .tel domains are so bad you can not even park one but i think alot of people have invested their money with out looking into them properly , good luck with it if you put it on a sedo auction some one might buy it some one who has not looked in to them properly lol I was going to invest in .tel names and when i read you can not park them or develop i knew they are the worst domains i have ever seen because you can not do nothing with them apart from use contact details phone number , email no ppc adverts .

Thanks Acro for your opinion.

I just checked alexa to see if there was any traffic and i am very pleased to see that yesterdays alexa traffic ranking was

Yesterday301195

which i think is excellent for such a short period of being online.

I have also had an offer at sedo, so i still think there is a market.

Any comments on the alexa ranking please?

Kind regards

Unfortunately .tel does not provide for a traffic tracking method - another fallacy of .tel supporters that cannot understand .tel was not devised to be monetized. It's a "virtual business card" with some extras. The Alexa traffic shows 1 pageview yesterday.

Acro thats a good way of describing a .tel name "virtual business card" i agree because you should be able to change the DNS on any domain name in my opinion a .tel is not a domain name because it dosent work like a domain name but completely diffrent.

Hi again Acro. Don't you mean the daily page views PER USER is 1, and not 1 page view, and since there is only 1 page then 1 page per user could not be any higher, but there must be many USERS to have a high ranking surely?

Kind regards

No there does not have to be a lot of different people to get the alexa rankings up. One person can hop on and off a site to raise the rankings. Never go by Alexa rankings. Sites that are being worked on get a lot high rankings just due to the designer and programmer going on and off it all the time. Whenever I am working on a site the rankings shoot up even if I know there are only a few of us going on it.

It sounds like you have some good ideas for using the site, so maybe make something of it. Or send to to auction after the next bid, while people are still looking for .tel.

"nice way to put it". The only value is your brand. But most people will still type in

the .com and if the figure there in the wrong site they might type in the .tel

Yea, if someone figures that they're in the wrong site after typing *domain*.com, I would imagine they'd actually go to www.google.com.............................. I think that something like 0.00000000000000000000000001% of visitors might decide that the next logical step would be to type in *domain*.tel, so don't bet on it. The 1 visitor was probably you.

Why is .tel better than .net or .org?

Or... .biz? .us?

It's not.

I don't see any value, sorry.

Thanks again for your opinions. I see there are 4 dot tel domains in live sedo auctions so it looks like some people are looking further ahead.

Kind regards

4. FOUR. F O U R. Out of the how many tens of thousands of .tels, 90% of which will have been reg'd by domainers.

hold it for a few months and I think a .tel market will emerge, but mostly for
common people's names. Wanted.tel doesn't make much sense to have
contact info for 'wanted', but considering wanted.com is a million dollar name
you should get low $xxx when the time comes.

I regged several first names for men and women. I then posted an add on myspace and facebook. I have some offers already, but they are in the 5 - 6 hundred dollar range. I am going to sell them at this price.

I am keeping a few names for myself. I have medicaldevice.tel and I consult in this field. My website is michiganbiotech.com but when I do med device consulting, I put medicaldevice.tel as the contact info.

Branding is key here. My guess is that in time, the demand to expand its uses will go before the ICANN board to make it into a development type of environment. COuld be way wrong though.
