I've owned the domain NameDepot.com for several years. I've got to decide to either build a site or just sell it, if the price were right.

Does anybody know what it might bring in, in todays market?

You've tried to peddle this name in every n.g. possible. The domain registration business is finished--kaput!

So why exactly is this name worth more than $200?

Tell us Mark.

I think the name is pretty cool; just one idea for the domain would be like a domain registrar site, or like a site which sells domains. Probably a bunch of other possibilities..

Thanks. I just got an offer to lease the name for .01 per visitor? It sounds silly to me but does anyone know for sure?
As long as I'm not locked into any kind of one-year thing, I can't see where I'd lose much, but still...

Hi,
Hard to give an estimate for domains these days. The domain-market seems to be very slow and names that used to be worth something are sitting on the unsold-shelves for months now.

NameDepot
Good, recognizable name. 2 words. Easy to spell and to remember.

What does it mean ?
My guess: a depot for names. A place where your names/domains or names/domains of others are deposited/offered/listed...

So if that's the intention, then the name transported the meaning it was supposed to. Otherwise...

A year ago I'd given the name some 2000$. These days I am reluctant to appraise it for more than 300$-400$.

My questions to all here:
What's your impression about the domain-market these days ? Has anybody sold domains recently, and if so, where and for what price ?

Greetings to all
Reinhard

Well, I sold a couple in the past few months..

t2k.net > $400
OriolesTickets.com > $150
Make-Cash.com > $200

And a few others for like $100/each. Not getting a whole lot, but heck at least I'm profiting from the $10 investment. I'm sure I probably could have sold these for a higher price, but didn't really bother, for example most of the domains I sold, I asked them if that price was good, and they accepted the price. So for example for t2k.net, the company (tooling2000.com) called me on the phone, and said they'd pay a few hundred for it probably, I'm sure if I said like $1000 they would have accepted it.

Thanks for the information on your sales Dan.

It's good to hear that domains are still being bought. I've been trying to sell any of my 80 domains for a few months and did not sell even one. Maybe you wanna take a look at my list and say if all of my names are just crap that nobody wants anyway :)) or what I could do to sell them. (I have listed them on a few of the major domain-lists, Afternic, GreatDomains, Sedo, ... and also sent out round 100 mails to folks I thought might be interested. I got one response that did not lead anywhere after 2 days. Maybe you have tips for me... ?

dude, some of those names are good; can't you figure out how to develop, say, besttents.com?!

Hi NameDepot,

>rhoppenberger (whatever.....)
Hey dude, you're not the first one who has problems
with that name :))

>some of those names are good;
Good. Glad to hear that.

>can't you figure out how to develop, say, besttents.com?!
We'll I don't want to develop 20 websites in order to sell
the domain-names. Even if I wanted, that would only raise the price to the level of somewhat developed sites and I would still have the problem of having to SELL them to somebody.

And selling them is my problem at the moment, and I am not sure if developing them would help a lot towards that goal.

Thank you nevertheless for your good advice. I you know something else on how to sell them, please let me know...

Thanks
Reinhard

Well, you can setup a single web site and point all the domains you have 'on sale' to it. You don't have to develop multiple websites.

why didn't I think of that?!
Silly me, I must be gettin' rusty!
