People have been saying that for years, and will probably continue to. I'm sure their business model justifies what they pay as I don't think these people are stupid. Besides, each year the pickings from drops continue to dwindle, so yes in time they will stop...due to the return not being equal to the cost. Until then, more power to 'em

IMHO

Shaun

I'm just saying if I'm not gonna get the name and they won't stop bidding I continue and make them pay and I feel better about it when I'm done. I have even giggled :).

In addition Quervo is also name admin. I have enjoyed bidding all three of these buyers up on many occasions knowing they would not quit. Eventually if they continue to over pay or spend more then they can get back from ppc they will have to start cutting back.

Now THATS what I'm talkin bout!

Wait till he stops bidding and you get stuck with a domain you have to pay for.
""I'm not gonna get the name""
Time to find some wood to knock on.

that also sounds like shill bidding to me
something the community frowns upon

it's not shill bidding until he wins a domain and doesnt pay for it...I don't think wildwil is going to bid on something he can't pay for....knowing him from seeing his posts in many forums he would'nt do that and is definitely not that type...it's not illegal to let people bid alot of money for domains they really want in an effort to get them to spend more since they are your competitors, maybe unethical slightly..but not illegal.
fyi....

lol. well, some of em already are...

the two people you mention i wouldn't really classify as big players but they are right up there with the big boys day in and day out. i know xinamesx used to be a member on here.. halvarez isn't.

then there is also caseytoni which is in on a lot of auctions as well.

snapnames has the most bid wars.. not so with enom/pool.

I always pay for the auctions I win. And I'm completely aware of the fact I will have to pay for the domain if they do not bid higher. The simple fact is they don't stop for anything on most names and care not for the COMMUNITY. If they were community players they would respond to emails when we ask about a name. They have unlimited funds and are going to not let anyone have them becouse they can. I'm not sure what shill bidding is but if they don't want to over pay then they can stop bidding against me and let me have the damn name. It's really simple strategy they should start using :)

I'm not sure what shill bidding

Not being a native english myself, let me risk: It is a cheat bidding. It is someone that is already in agreement with other, may be the domain catcher, to artificially raise the bids.

I don't artificially raise anything. If at anytime it gets to hot for them they can stop bidding and let me purchase the name. The thing that frustrates me the most is they rarely ever stop. If I can't have the name I really want I bid as high as I can afford to pay if I win the bid. But at the same time I'm not letting it go for cheap. That is not shill bidding that is my strategy. You want it your gonna pay for it or your gonna let me have it. They just never let me have it!

Yeah vaxis has deep pockets. Going against them right now on just one name at Pool which I have a decent budget for so we'll see what happens.
