'Trade' and end user price?

Trade: high $x,xxx.
Retail: low $xx,xxx.

It's a beauty!

I must be missing something. It is nice but xx,xxx!

I think this is a great name.

There would be a huge gap between reseller and end user (IMO)

I would say:

Reseller: low to mid xxxx
enduser: upto low xxx,xxx

Some additional info... The site does 1000 organic uniques per day and has over 1500 back links from good sources like the Wall Street Journal, Lifehacker, Reddit, StumbleUpon etc. The 'WorldTV Charts' which runs using proprietary code on the site attracted a lot of attention a few months back which explains many of the backlinks and traffic.

The site lists 1st in Google for the search terms 'internet tv charts' and 'most popular online videos', with top 10 Google positioning for 'popular video' and 'popular videos'. The site also lists highly in Google and other search engines for the more generic 'video clips' and 'internet tv'.

There are lots of companies calling themselves World TV around the world including a satelite service called GlobeCast WorldTV, a TV station in California and a TV station in New Zealand, so good sale-to-end-user potential there.

The site clearly has a lot of potential in many different areas.

Appreciated

Sky's the limit on this one. Good luck!

xxx,xxx easy - nice stats too

i agree that this is one of those domains were reseller and enduser price varies a lot, a reseller would probably pay you the traffic value which is at least mid $x.xxx, its probably really tough to find an end user, because if you are a "world TV" station, you wouldnt rebrand your CNN brand or whatever to WorldTV.com, although I woulndt doubt that a high number is totally out of the question, chances for that a slim to none IMO, therefore even any high-end reseller offers of low to mid $xx.xxx is probably one of the better offers that will come around for a long time, so I think creating a business plan around 500K with a chance of <2% to sell this domain at this price over a reasonable time frame is a little too far out there

I agree with one of the above posters great name. But this is a tough one to price.

Personally, if it were mine I would build it out and monetize it for now and wait for an enduser. You will never get it's true value from a domainer.

Good luck with it.

I think it's a high $###K. Here's why: We've barely begun seeing the ultimate convergence of mega trends, including online expansion, "anywhere" broadband access, ultra mobility, miniaturization, mobile video, geometrically expanding channels, and viral content development and sources (including indies and self-"publishing"). If you're not patient, of course, you're probably too early in the wave that's coming. But IMO, it's going to be a big one.

Wow, what a huge range in opinions!

I think it's clear now to us that a reasonable reseller price is somewhere in the mid $xx,xxx range, and a couple of commercial appraisals (one from SEDO at approx $68k and another from AccurateDomains.com at $40k) have supported that, although we did get one from GoDaddy which was a joke. As I mentioned though, we are especially interested in the best case scenario potential end-user price, on a sunny day, with the wind at our back, with a motivated buyer, something of an auction going on, etc, even if that figure would mean some serious selling work. This is the figure we wish to put in our business plan.

Thanks for everyone who's contributed on this so far!

If you create a business plan with the BEST case scenario in mind only, that makes it per definition a NOT business plan, a business plan includes all possible scenarios, weights of those scenarios and a real valuation, because otherwise you could do that with any decent domain. If you want your business plan to be taken serious you need the low end as well, which is what you would get at auction Today, which is probably 10-25K (and only that high because of the traffic), from there you build a probability range with a time axis, and try not to get carried away with that, the chance of an enduser paying more than 200K is less than 1% each year in my opinon, so that one 1% chance lets say gives you on the project time frame of 5 years an additional "chance" value of 10K beyond the current reseller price. Any value beyond that would create a business plan thats not real but more like someone trying to make a list what he would buy if one of his lottery tickets would win.

My last comment was somewhat misleading. As you correctly point out, it is important to be realistic in a business plan, and we do intend to include best and worst case scenarios. We were simply having difficulty nailing down the 'sunny day' figure.

ah ok, I think sunny day = 75K as I dont count chances under 0,5% because I think its not realistic even if you put effort into it, with that theory you could say every 3letter.com at 100K+, most people will give you high values but nobody would pay up. I think the most difficult thing is that every TV station has a strong brand they market instead of a new name, and multiple efforts have been made in the past by big TV stations to create a global channel, and the reason they failed was certainly not the name, not even CNN managed to do so, they have tons of different feeds what looks like one station to people watching in only one country. Countries and languages are just too different, I think what also makes it difficult in terms of pricing is that there many good alternatives such as globaltv.com or global.tv or world.tv , I think 75K is a high figure, best of luck, it would be really interesting to know what potential clients say that you approach, it would be great if you could share that too
