it refers to one layout of a sailing ship's rigging and therefore its sails. by arraying them differently ships could could have different qualities for instance being able to sail more directly into the wind or being quicker with the wind from astern.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xebec thats the definition, Its supposevly has a lot of meaning in arabic, french, italian, etc. It was some type of fishing boat in the 16th-19th century. I think if its developed it might be some value with informative topics on page!
