Hi,

@ RustyK... Thanks for the good news link...

@ Johnny V ~ Nice domain: "Glasses-Free.com" ~ Good to see a decent offer for the other domain...no rush to sell, as the big part of this market is still a bit in front of us.

I have:

3DMovieChannels .com up on 'Sedos' feature showcase right now... just to 'test' the waters a little bit. If it sells it sells, if not..I will just put it away for a while.

Best to All ~ With Their "3D Domain Assets"!

Dan

Curious as to what people are thinking about 3D printers and the future of this sector of 3D? Thoughts?

Hi

@ NameFox

Here is a little news that came out today:

Stratasys buys 3-D printer maker

http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/morning_roundup/2011/05/stratasys-buys-3-d-printer-maker.html

BTW; To date I believe that: 3dprinter .com or 3dprinting .com was/is one of the highest reported '3d domain name sales...around 25k...not sure exactly which one it was...maybe another member can post the 'accurate information'.

Hope that helps...

Best,
Dan

believe it was 3dprinting.com for about $30k

---------- Post added at 10:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:00 AM ----------

OPINIONS needed

Since 3d has always been known as in writing 3-D (with hyphen inside) that would be more correct and worth more. On domain names however it seems hyphens (even if correct i.e. Part-time Full-time) are better without the hyphen since value of hyphen names are not there.

Having said that I am seeing that 3d-whatever.com is being taken before the appropriate 3-dwhatever.com SO...

What do you think is worth more in value or resale and why? 3-dsex.com vs. 3d-sex.com (btw, either way verbally you have to say the dash)

Finally would you take a 3dsex.net or would you take the hyphen 3d-sex.com or even 3-dsex.com

Thanks in advance

Emaillance01,

I'm not sure the exact reasons why, but I can tell you from experience the the "3d-" hyphen configuration is clearly preferred for resale over the more correct "3-d" version. (For example, I've had multiple inquiries re: the domain 3d-cameras.com, but little interest in 3-dcamera.com...)

As far as your hyphen-dot-com vs. no-hyphen-dot-net question, I'd forego the hyphenate in favor of the dot-net... JMHO...

I agree 100% with NamesBond, the 3D-Keyword.com looks a lot better than the 3-DKeyword.com, its also looks confusing when you have a word beginning with a vowel for instance

just examples to show you

3D-iPhones.com or 3-DiPhones.com
3D-Action.com or 3-DAction.com

I have also received quite a few offers on my better 3D-Product.com names, I haven't bothered with any 3-DKeyword.com names, I dont see the point

3D Printing is going to be REALLY big. Simply imagine that you PRINT real THINGS.

Just a few years ago this was the domain of rapid prototyping folks and expensive million-dollar machines. Now they are home to hobbyists (much like the computer industry in its early stages), and prices have gone down to $5k and just keeps on going down.

One of the more popular home DIY 3d printers (also known as fabbers, see below) are: MAKERBOT and Thing-o-matic among many others.

These are also called "fabbers" (digital FABricators) such as first popularized by Fab@Home. Links HERE and HERE.

I've been following the 3D printing sector and its just amazing what people are designing with 3D printers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAt2xD1L8dw

You bet! We have a Zbuilder and Z450. They're awesome. The ZBuilder is pretty new and when you do it right, prints great parts. If any of you guys use CAD, I'd be happy to do some free parts. Rarely get anyone to take me up on the offer besides clients though. More non engineers need to start using CAD! It's getting easier.

Hard to answer a todays value question rather than as to what it will be worth in a yr or two from now in such a growing market. Far as in another country thats even harder to answer so no further along Im afraid than before i answered. If they are yours holdem, 3dprinting.com was about $33k if that helps at all but that again was .com (and printing)
