directnic.com in my opinion. $15 per domain registration, no fees for transfers, free & fast dns management & updates, instant registrations, and fast customer service when needed.
have also used dotster.com registerfree.com and network solutions

Namecheap.com is my favourite, only $8.88 for domain and can use paypal to register the domain aswell. Also has an excellent cpanel to use and easy to manage.

I have had good results with godaddy. Not very good customer service though.

thanks for opinions i want to hear more

I discovered www.domainsite.com yesterday and have so far registered 2 domains with them. They're very cheap at $7.77 per year.

I'm reseller of cnobin.com, their price $6.59 .com .net .org and $13.95 for .cn

Surprised no one has chimed in with eNom yet. eNom is without a doubt the cheapest and best, as you can procure a $8.14 reseller or retail account there rather easily. Transfers in, out, and within are fast and easy. Most domains you buy here from other resellers will have been bought at eNom, so it's easier to keep them all under one roof if eNom is your choice of registrar. Funding is available by PayPal, major credit cards, checks, etc.

If you need an account, PM me your WHOIS info and a selected username, and I will set one up for you with $8.14 purchase rates for major extensions.

enom is a good registrar, but now i'm with cnobin.com because their online support is rather good, their guys solve my problem within few minutes. If you wanna an account, you can tell me to create one .

I was wondering that myself, so I did a little research and came up with theses findings (with some helpful links):

Price is hardly the only consideration. I'm pretty new at this too so any other suggestions would be welcome to me as well. Hope this helps.

How do you figure?

Name-Only account - no DNS functions, activation fee to transfer etc.

I use Namecheap - good price ($8.88), good service, good support, and now also free privacy protection on whois with every new domain you register.

yea - just like the man said. (the guide i provided doesn't necessarily compare apples with apples.)

this one looks good though:

web.com 6.95/dn no minimum

(any feeback, please let me know.)
