For new domainers, the topic of domains can look initially easy but once you get into it you realize it is actually incredibly deep with shadow areas and exceptions as the rule.

The role of "Domain Name Portfolio Manager" is also something a little unknown.

Not a full time role for sure but I think you underestimate what it takes to manage hundreds of domains in a company (and beyond purely renewal activity). But I’m happy to get also this challenging feedback which force me to reconsider my convictions.

It may not always be a full-time job, but the responsibility definitely exists. Once a company has domains across several registrars, brands and countries, someone needs to own renewals, access permissions, DNS changes, compliance and recovery procedures.
