Very nice domain name. I'm going to appraise in the $XX,XXX ... minimum. The dotCOM has been utilized/developed in various ways and I definitely love the dotUS version.

I am pretty sure those prices quoted so far are motivated end user prices, as far as reseller pricing goes I would say its mid to high $$$

So if you owned this name, you would honestly sell it to a reseller for $XXX?

yes, if I would get an offer for about $800 (like I said, mid to high)..I would sell...I think you are just upset about the appraisal..I think the question also is, if other people here say its $$.$$$ reseller, have you actually gotten an $$.$$$ offer from them? I doubt that...its a lot easier to talk than to make a real offer...but again..I make my money in parking and not trading, so usually I am not someone to get greedy waiting for some jackpot..tell you what..send it to auction at sedo with a reserve of 6k and see if it sells..

I'm not mad, just couldn't believe if you or anyone else here owned this, that they would sell it for $800. If you were, I would have bought it up in a heartbeat, which I know alot of others would have too.

BTW, I make my money with traffic also.

So nice of you to characterize another's viewpoint as greedy. Incidentally, Sedo is a fine auction format, but end-users exist outside that world.

I am sorry, I really didnt mean to offend you or anyone else, and I didnt mean the other appraisals are greedy, I didnt want to come across that way, what I meant was that some people that get an offer thats already way above the market price start to think they can get a price thats even more out of the question, like the kerryedwards domain or, heck, I have seen it a thousand times, a so-so name (and its still .us domain we are talking about here)..all of a sudden peolpe are asking for a million and a share in the equity the site might make in the future, and I have seen newbies getting offers for for a terrible .com they regged 2 months ago for 20k and people were telling them to ask for more more more..in all cases the potential buyers just went with a different name, I think it should be allowed to have a different opinion here, and I am aware that I am more on the conservative side when it comes to domain values, so if its my opinon that an ok .us domain has a reseller value of $800 it still means it has a enduser value of 2-3k...and I think thats a fair price...

I've turned down a straight $1k offer for eurogolfcourses.com within the last 6 weeks - should I have taken it ? Probably...but it pays its own renewal fee through parking, and I like to kid myself that one day I'll develop it (yeah, right!)

golfcourses.us - yours is a better name, but worse ext - but overall, I think your name is better - I wouldn't sell (yours) for less than $2500, and I could see it getting far more.

So...with golf being one of the most popular sports in the world (probably the 2nd most popular behind soccer/football), with golf courses being one of the most searched golf terms on the internet, and with golf courses being highly lucrative in general, your reseller pricing is mid to high $xxx? What would you price Golf.us at? Mid $x,xxx?

I'll say go for a min of $2,500. Mid $xxx especially on this name would be what you would get doing something like posting in one of the sales threads "I'll accept the best offer in the next half hour from someone that will pay via PayPal within the hour."

I think golf.us is a whole different thing, you are mixing things up here.. I understand that you love golf, its a great sport ..but fact is that the domain has a very limited use..it can be a directory for golf courses in the US, thats pretty much it...it can in no way be compared to golf.us. the assumptions you are making inme appraising golf.us at some price are dumb and unfounded....

...no well established golf course would go after this name, because if you paid a little attention to the golf world you would have noticed its all about the country club's name and brand, and PGA.., its a 2 word .us domain, its a nice one, but for example football.us sold for 18K..(#1 sport in the US and its football.us and not footballfield, footballgames or footballplayer)...and if you think golfcourses.us comes even close to this?

Actually, I'm not that big of a fan of golf. GolfCourses.com sold for over $50,000 back in late 2004, and GolfResorts.com (which "can be a directory for golf resorts and that's pretty much it") sold for over $60,000 in 2005. Not only that, even DiscountGolfShoes.com sold for $10,000 in 2004...imagine how limited that name is! What reported 5-figure sales did football boast during that same time? FootballSquares.com for $10,000...that be it.

...no well established golf course would go after this name, because if you paid a little attention to the golf world you would have noticed its all about the country club's name and brand, and PGA.., its a 2 word .us domain, its a nice one, but for example football.us sold for 18K..(#1 sport in the US and its football.us and not footballfield, footballgames or footballplayer)...and if you think golfcourses.us comes even close to this?

Football.us at $18,000 may have been a low sale, or perhaps right on the money. But let's take a closer look at football and golf:

OVT for football & phrases with it: (only those over 1,000/day)

fantasy football 24,096.1 /day
football 10,908.8 /day
yahoo fantasy football 3,898.4 /day
nfl football ticket 3,842.5 /day
college football 2,919.0 /day
texas high school football 2,004.3 /day
monday night football 1,961.7 /day
ncaa football 1,860.4 /day
alabama football 1,227.1 /day
liverpool fc 1,221.9 /day
notre dame football 1,198.8 /day
nfl football 1,157.7 /day
high school football 1,137.6 /day

OVT for gold & phrases with it:

golf 18,843.8 /day
golf course 12,550.1 /day
golf club 3,429.4 /day
golf cart accessory 2,402.2 /day
golf cart 2,101.5 /day
golf ball 1,293.3 /day
miniature golf 1,070.9 /day
golf equipment 1,028.8 /day

2 things to note here: Fantasy Football is REALLY popular, and while you were mentioning crappy 2-word football names, FantasyFootball.us would actually be worth more than GolfCourses.us and probably fetch $4,000+ even on a reseller market at this point. What else is there to note? Oh yea, golf courses is searched MORE than football! Don't get me wrong, there's no way in hell it is worth what Football.us sold for, but look at how many people are searching for golf courses.

Given that, the statement of yours I bolded, "it can be a directory for golf courses in the US, thats pretty much it" is like saying "VoiceOverIP.com could only be used for VOIP services and that's about it". That one use shouldn't be taken lightly...a portal for golf courses can be pretty lucrative use given the search stats. Search stats don't lie, lots and lots of people are searching for golf courses. Bottom line: pro football might be the most popular sport for people to watch on TV and attend, but far more people golf than play football, and apparently a lot of them look online for new places to play golf. :)

Your last line is so true. Thanks for the post and appraisals.
