Hard to say.. i always stayed clear of .com.au names because i figured they wouldnt get me many typeins.

That being said when they released all of those generic names a while back i did grab a few just for email accounts etc.. no real practical use... YET.

As for value.. hmmm i honestly dont know i remember a mate brought some names a while back that were probably of similair status.. paid like 2.5-5K each i think

Ok, sounds about right to me. Just thought I would start off my time in the forum with a couple of Aussie names.

Thanks for the reply.

Cheers
James

Just some filler for that comment ...

Basically you don't own a .au, you're just renting it...

From http://www.auda.com.au/policies/auda-2002-24/
"2. PROHIBITION ON SALE OF DOMAIN NAME BY REGISTRANT

2.1 There are no proprietary rights in a domain name. A registrant does not "own" their domain name, instead they hold a licence to use the domain name for a specified period of time and subject to the licence terms and conditions.

2.2 Because the registrant does not have a proprietary right in the domain name, it is not legally possible for the registrant to "sell" the domain name. By offering to sell their domain name to another party, the registrant is in breach of the terms and conditions of their domain name licence.

2.3 Where auDA becomes aware that a registrant has offered to sell their domain name to another party, auDA reserves the right to revoke the domain name licence (in which case, the domain name will be deleted and then become available for registration in the normal way). "

You can transfer the domain name to another person, but if there's even a sniff of a sale going on there they release you as registrant and the domain goes back out in the wild...
