Hi everyone,

If anyone would like to take a stab at Links.com, I would appreciate it.

Also, I was wondering if there a reliable method for appraising a domain like Links.com and/or is their a company that is noted for its ability to appraise. I am not interested in selling at this time, but I do have reasons to get a reliable appraisal. I noticed that Social.com did not sell recently Sedo and is now being turned into a directory. Are there certain metrics that I should be looking at beyond traffic? Does anyone have any thoughts at why Social.com did not reach its asking price?

Yes, I am concerned about conflicts of interest. I realize that it is very difficult to maintain an unbiased view, particularly when it comes to domain appraisals. Appreciate your taking the time to respond.

wow, lots of potential uses - links for advertising, links for social networking, link exchanges. The internet is all about links. This could be branded into almost anything from a dating site to a hot dog site. I could see it going for mid to high xx,xxx or even into low six figures.

Thanks for the comments. Branding is one of the major issues with Links.com. It is TOOO broad. Sometimes positives can become negatives.

I disagree, in this case its a great name and with it being broad it just opens to door to more people that could potentially want this PREMIUM domain. Which IMO would increase the value as the demand would be greater.

I guess one of the challenges I am facing is branding a broad name within a market which can be monetized. The name helps when users are searching for [some name] Links or something like that. This draws traffic. The alternative is to actually spend branding (marketing and advertising), something that I am not ready to do at this time. If I come up with a really novel use for the name, I would be more willing to invest. This may take some time, since these "aha" events happen more or less spontaneously and are difficult to plan for.

I do appreciate your response and thanks for taking the time to provide me with some insight.

Yep. Thanks for the reminded. I originally had a friend of mine develop a "Golf Links" site directory. It did alright but hit a plateau and just sat. I then decided to go a different route in order to leverage natural traffic. Who knows, I may end up going there again. Thanks for the comment.
