If they were really worth $500 each, then why aren't you grabbing them?

What valuation tool or model or you using to value those at $500 ? A small fraction of those (in my opinion) that you leasted *may* be worth high xx to a reseller, but even there... they're more probably just 'possibly nice to dev at reg fee prices)

My $0.02..

What do you guys use to valuate a domain name? Of course one word generic .com, LLL and LLLL, but they are all gone.

So what makes a good domain name? 2 like words pushing together? High searches on Google for those keywords (EMDs are dead, I know)? What is it?

I use me to appraise names. I don't believe in any appraisal craps.
The price of a name is what agreed between seller and buyer. There is no science, physic or math calculation.
Forget about search results, PR - Without traffic and revenue - A name is just A name.
Just buy low and sell high.

As a rule of thumb, if you buy an expiring domain name, as a minimum there is someone else in the world who saw fit to register it. You could try looking at Godaddy's expiring auctions for instance. Brandable and pronouncable .com domains up to 6 letters long are in demand nowadays.

"instinct" is big word in domaining. Domainers just need instinct and nothing else.
