Paying way too much for assets is how the rich end up dirt poor.

Look at the dot com bubble.

this was not "way too much" -- maybe for you or me, but not for this guys... there isn't that many deals to be had to start with, very few opportunities to get a decent deal on a decent domain such as this one at a fair price... i had predicted that this will close at 30-50k.

Look at the dot com bubble.

I don't agree with your two generalizations.

20 yrs ago, I remember looking at ocean front property in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.

They were "asking" $ 1. million for something that I thought wasn't worth more
than $ 1/2 million.

It would cost me OVER $ 10 million, today.

All assets go thru cycles. It all depends when you buy the asset within the cycle.

A year ago, $ 50. option on oil was very speculative. Today, it is "money in the bank".

That may apply for physically finite matter like land and oil, but virtual addresses are just that, figments of virtual meaning, that can be created ad infinitum through digitalization.

Your opinion stems from your own experience as does mine. I can do lots better for less. And, I have done lots better for less than this, many times. At public auction you really tend not to get a good deal. You get a purchase at the maximum the market can bear.

And also, .Net is inferior.

I understand the point you are trying to make. And, I don't want this to become
an "academic" argument.

However, an option on oil is strictly a piece of paper.

And, I better get rid of my Picasso "Mother and Child" since it is a figment
of virtual meaning.

(I wish I owned it.)

I'm sure someone overpaid for the painting (art work) at one time or another.

I'm not worrying about how much Frank paid for Lottery.net . I happen to know
how much his annual war-chest is. And, this is a drop in the bucket.

I'm sure the domain will pay for itself within 36 months or LESS.

I dont care how much money a person has ... Spending 40k on a domain with hopes to make a dollar or two per day is just plain stupid. .

I totally agree , very dumb indeed .. Especially when i can go to my local bank and start a fund paying $50k upfront that guarantees me $500 per month ..

Actually when at my bank the other day I saw on the board it was $454 per month for $50,000 investment to be exact.

lol. you guys/gals are hilarious. :cheeky:

lottery.com is worth $x,xxx, xxx and lottery.net is the next best thing.. at 40k, it was a great deal.

you think it matters to this guys much if they had paid 20k, 40k or even 100k for such a domain? i doubt it... they have an agenda and no you will not get such a domain for $1000 or $10,000 because they are two steps ahead of you.

ps--- if you can get your hands on similar names at low-mid xx,xxx consider yourself very lucky at this point in time... prices are going up by the day, if you have not already noticed. doh!

"Lotterys" would be a terrible typo and with the TLD being .us you're out of luck.

Sure, so's my libido :-D

It does seem that prices are NOT going up, but people selling down while they still can.

It also seems clear that speculation is getting dangerously overheated. People seem to be willing to pay more for ego sake i.e. wow, xxx bought this domain for yyy!!!, than common sense. Emotional rather than functional motivators are driving the compulsive acquisition mojo of a few fat walleted people, nothing more, nothing less. <IMHO

not a gem
a good typo
big difference
To make plural any word that ends with a `y',
drop the `y', and add `ies'.
Reverse for the alternate.
Lottery
Lotteries
see how I drop the `y' and add `ies'
Careful Mike, a lot of people will all start to spell wrong after they read your posts. ehe
lotterys is a typo (bah)

edit
unless your name were "Lottery"
That would be the only time it could work.

Will we ever get the apostrophe as an IDN?
