I was lucky enough to grab FeaturedNames.com from Ogre for a measily $20 :) Best $20 I ever spent. I can't think of many other better 2 word combo's for a domain portfolio.- Jordan

Personally, I like the sound of ExcellentName.com and ExcellentDomain.com
And, I think the same guy owns the .info's

Since, Duke does not have a million dollars in his mattress anymore. (His wife gave Duke
a choice. The lumpy mattress or his cape had to go.)

So, for the few dollars he had to lay out, "this name" is a steal.

I may not know much about marketing. But, I think Duke will make Names.ws into a well
known domain. And, within a short period of time, it will be highly ranked in google.

If anyone can do it, It's Sir Duke.

well, it's worth a shot duke. However, i think in this case traffic leakage would be an issue with names.us. I for one, would love to be the guy who owns names.us once you have started promoting names.ws.

Yeah, but it all evens out in the long run. Just wait til the guy with names.bz starts promoting his site and I get all of his traffic! :-D

Hey I'm not even sure I'm going to do it. For now I'm just arguing - which has been great - just like the old days at DNF! And you guys I'm arguing with, I am actually paying attention to your opinions too, just having fun with the wisecracks. I'm kind of thinking it would be fun to do, just to see if it could be done. Nothing to lose really since it would be an alternate site with alternate extensions (that would also be on my main site). But I am really starting to disbelieve the severity of this traffic leakage scarecrow that has been around for so long. I simpy do not believe that people are so stupid they can't find a widely promoted web address and that they won't keep coming back if they like the content.

Oops, you're right. Bad example. I should have said names.nu (but that traffic would probably go to .eu even though it doesn't exist yet)!

well believe it. I have this viewpoint because i know a great many people who are online but have no clue about domains etc. They have livejournals and friendster accounts, but they have no idea anything beyond that. A while back I told some friends and family that i had a certain mediocre medical domain (drugdealer.net) and every time they would ask me about it they would say what was the name of the domain you own was it "drugs.com"?
everytime i would correct them and they would always ask the same thing the next time i spoke with them no matter how many times i corrected them. dnjournal.com is different because it is more likely to appear in print in a news write up, and also it is a news publication so that particular type of abbreviation has already been familiarized in the public's mind(NYtimes.com, LAtimes.com, SFtribune.com etc)

Well, how about if I used a really forceful attention getting technique. Like everytime I mention Names.ws I say "If you type in ANYTHING other than .WS, I will send thugs to your house who will kill you and your entire family!" I bet they would remember it then - they would probably even beg me to write it down to make sure they dont forget! :-D

OK, I've obviously been up too long. I'm going to bed!

I would agree. The best .ws sales have been right around 1K, so you would have to think seller could have gotten right around that level if he was patient.

If you can do very good business on your site, I think Names.ws will be better in the long run.
