Wow... That is pretty good! Basketball.mobi is boring. Imagine if some magazine advertised hoop.mobi for basketball! I think that basketball.mobi would be for the stiffs, but hoop.mobi would be really cool! If not a magazine or an informative basketball site, I bet a basketball team would love to have that name! Heck! If they can pay players $20million for a player, they could pay for that one.
I recommend you contact the association and teams. BUT before that, develop it.

Undeveloped = mid $x,xxx - mid $xx,xxx
Developed = high $xx,xxx

This is one of the best names that i have seen so far!

hoop and hoops are already good underground terms and ezines.... so hold on till the .Mobi gets know in the public.... develop a nice little fan site and cash in!

try tempting Hula Hoops with it as they love odd ball advertising in the UK!

undeveloped $xx.xxx ? seriously..this is a mid $xxx domain..hoops would be better..sounds all like inflation to me, ..this making people believe they can create millions out of nothing with no work ..this doesnt help anyone..if a pro appraises a .mobi domain here for 30K..it means reseller price is at least 10K..unless those people that suggest those figures are at least willing to pay the reseller price and put their money where their mouth is I think you shouldnt be spending that money just yet...

Cheers for your comments people, i am slowly getting round to development, just got a bit on at the moment, i did think about basketball but as i'm not american it wasn't at the forefront of my mind since we dont really have a massive basketball following in the UK. Well not to the degree of the States anyway! But thanks for the positive comments anyway! Chris

I hope so anyway! I'm not going to do any promotion until at least after xmas, so i don't expect to get any ££'s til after then! I'm gonna try the traffic auctions anyway but have emailled them twice but no replies so i take it they are either busy as badgers or just don't like the domains, oh well there's lots of other avenues to go down yet!

Lets be realistic - Par.mobi sold for $650 (Sedo auction) a LLL word related to golf - regged in a few seconds. Hoop.mobi a LLLL word related to basketball, registered days after opening. Currently its a low/maybe mid $xxx. I can't give appraisals for the future, I am not a psychic. How do you come up with $xx,xxx? Its not helping the cause for .mobi so don't bother!

domainah good points! BUT that is what everyone said about the early .Orgs .Coms .Nets etc in the late 80's, early 90's now where are they! you are spot on about the development, but by the time the "BIG PLAYERS" get into .Mobi's there will be lots of developed sites etc........

as for the "apprasials" they are just that.... nobody knows exactly at the mo but just have a look at how many peeps in europe have signed up to iMode services.... the same service that they knocked a couple of years back when it was so big in J & C.....

.Mobis have got to be worked on but having a "KeyMobi" (our own term for a ovt/typo/popular) is half the battle and hoops.mobi is DEF a keymobi! :bounce:

'hoops' would be the preferred slang for basketball as a whole .. hoop refers to the basket itself.

Thanks for everyones input seems like quite a controversial subject! However everyones got their ideas and opinions and all are free to air them. Hopefully in the new year i will get some of my .mobi's including hoop.mobi in the auctions etc, and see who was right! But only time will tell i suppose!
