Right now I run about 3 best sites say domain1.com, domain2.com domain3.com and each are indivially hosted.
And Alexa ranking is like 100k, 200k, 300k respectively .. I just got an idea that I can improve one of the website ranking (say domain1.com) just by hosting domain1.com @ sub1.domain1.com and domain1.com @ sub2.domain.com .. This way, I guess the search engines account traffic of domain1.com as total traffic of 3 domains domain1.com, domain2.com domain3.com

This is just my idea and not sure whether I am correct or not ..So what do you guys think ?

Don't based your traffic or ranking on Alexa. It's very inaccurate.

I think I forgot where I am after reading that....

umm...

It's not clear what you mean, exactly. I get the basic jist, but not sure.

Basically, using subdomains won't make a bit of difference to a search engine unless you have incoming links to those subdomains. Then, those subdomains could be listed --but not better than if it were a link to the root domain.

Also, diluting your incoming links/traffic to the subdomains will actually hurt your alexa ranking because it counts them separately.

For instance, if domain1.com gets 10k uniques and sub1.domain1.com gets 50k uniques, then sub1.domain.com will have a higher ranking than domain1.com. However, it will not "help" domain1.com in its ranking.

So, that's only relevant IF I understood what the heck you meant... :cheeky:
