buyer willing to pay 3 years of revenue
So...
4000 x $.50 = 2k/mth
2k/mth x 36 mths (3 yrs) = $72K
I think you REALLY need be TOP EXPERT at monetizing to get
$.50 per unique visitors, though
However, this domain value do not rely only on revenue.

Given the bids at ovt - see my first post in this thread - I considered that advertisers are paying around 50cts per "targeted" visitor (particularly if bidding on "sociology course", "sociology degree" and "sociology career")
And the formula shows what it would cost to get 4000 visitors per month during 3 years at 50cts per visitor.
But OFC the "50cts" estimation might be wrong and $72k is not what you'd get selling your traffic... that's why I said "here is what your end-user is probably thinking", and that's only true if you gave him the stats.
I agree with that ofc. But 4000 uniques a month is not neglectable at all, even for a real end user who will never park the name.

If the interested party is an end user, they are most likely spending big money on ppc or other form of advertising.

Especially, if the domain get 4K uniques/mth parked...
Any dummy
would know it will get much more uniques with contents/developed I recommend adding full 10 years registration.
It cost about $70 to do so, but, it's peanut compare to domain value.
By doing so, it accomplish two things.
1. It never gets dropped either forced or not.
2. You are basically telling buyer that you are willing to
wait it out long term or you'll just develop it yourself.

counter with 100k...but 70k is a great sale for this name imo, I would find it hard to believe you would find another buyer willing to pay that much for this niche market name in the future...it's easy to get 20-25k for something like this but 70k is a very strong offer.
The problem with that is the time value of money...70K now reinvested with smart investing in new domains will yield you a lot more... That is the most frequently neglected thing when people turn down offers. The returns with domains are still very high on an annual basis...
..so in order to get a comparable offer in lets say 4 years..you would need to get at least a 120k-130K offer..for this name its not as bad because it does get some nice traffic, but for most other names its amazing how much money people throw away because they dont realize that the rate of return, or rather the cost of capital in the domain field is very high.

That is a very good point. Thing that's difficult is monetizing beyond ppc or books etc cos we're just domainers.
It's like a lot of generic domains, worth millions to the enduser no doubt but unless you can turn yourself into a university selling degree courses i don't see how developed to it's full potential. They'll just keep paying the ppc like most other generics.
I've got several domains worth literally a bomb to endusers & pure generics but i don't see how i can warrant more than a certain amount, however ,would still be considerable sum.
What you have come up with should make the seller think though Creature & maybe he could go to the bidder & use something like this as why it is worth $150k?

You may be forgetting that Sociology is not just a subject in school but it is also a science.
70K may be too low of an offer for this. It's a good offer, but it has too much of a broad international appeal.
Counter offer high, very high, and go from there. It's not a $3mil Vodka.com but it is perhaps a $150K domain if not more.
