"Avatar" and Other 3D Movies Set the Stage for 3D TV Debut
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., January 12, 2010 - The popularity of Avatar and other 3D movies will put 3D TV on the map for consumers, reports In-Stat (http://www.in-stat.com). 2010 will be a big year for 3D entertainment, as movie studios release more 3D films shown in a growing number of 3D-equipped theaters.

“Exposure to 3D films is important to the debut of 3D TV, because consumers who have seen 3D films are more interested than the general population in being able to view 3D content at home,” says Michelle Abraham, In-Stat analyst. “In-Stat’s 3D consumer survey shows that 64% of consumers are at least somewhat interested in 3D in the home. For those who have seen a 3D movie in the last 12 months, the percentage increases to 76%.”
Recent research by In-Stat found the following:

  • In-Stat projects worldwide 3D TV shipments will reach 41 million in 2014.
  • 3D Blue-ray player shipments will track closely with 3D TVs.
  • Pricing is a major barrier, as survey respondents are not willing to pay much of a premium for 3D TV sets and Blu-ray players.
  • Many Pay-TV operators will use half resolution 3D as a stepping stone and learning opportunity for full HD 3D in the future.
  • On a regional basis, North America will be the largest market.

I heard a rumor that www.3DTV.com could be coming to auction in Jan. 2010.

If you owned www.3DTV.com what would you set as your Reserve Price?

Me..$300,000

FYI...I did submit several 3D Names to the next www.Latonas.com Jan. auction. I had 7 names accepted, but none were my 3D urls...yet.

Rejected:
3DBlueRay.com
3DBluRay.net
3DWebCamera.com
3DHell.com
Hell3D.com (FYI: Hell.com is in the live auction. it is not mine)

My Accepted / My Reserve Price
USBailOut.com /$250.00
ChopperBay.com / $0.0
CyberSignatures.com / $0.0
IndexFundHelp.com / $0.0
YourMagicNumber.com / $250.00
iTrust.me / $1,000.00
Airplane.me / $1,250.00

Thanks for your expert advice, but I’ll have to pass on that one. I think I got a great 3D domain already. :)

Please don't encourage typosquatting, I will issue a prompt lawsuit to anybody who registers that domain in bad faith to confuse people looking for my 3DHomeEntertainmentForYourBeverlyHillsHome.com

i regged Pelicula3d.es, which got some traffic in the weeks before christmas. i've regged a few 3d nets but i don't know how much more of that i'll be doing - trying to become more selective.

Moviegoers spent $1 billion to see 3-D films at U.S. and Canadian theaters last year, as features including News Corp.’s “Avatar” drove total box-office revenue to a record.

Ticket sales for 3-D showings accounted for 9.4 percent of the total in 2009, according to Hollywood.com Box-Office. “Avatar,” still in theaters, made $212 million in U.S. sales last year from 3-D screenings, about 75 percent of its $283.6 million total, the Los Angeles-based researcher said.

Jesus, Latonas agreement looks like a copy of Monikers where they they lock you in for 60 days as "exclusive seller/broker" Just accept domains into auction and when the auction is over the agreement is void. Why lock domainers into it for 60 days and hold it over their heads.

I'm not a fan of the "3-D"... I know that it's the technically correct way but I think "3D" is becomming the more common way to refer to the technology and users will not type the hyphen on direct traffic...

anyone else have any thoughts?

Also, has anyone found some decent 3D affiliates? I honestly haven't looked as I have been quite busy on another project but I am getting close to developing my 3D domains... if anyone would like to share their sample developed 3D sites that would be great

FYI - I started developing my 3D domains today and found Amazon has 3D glasses in their affiliate program... it's good for a start, hopefully some more will come soon.
