Thinking a little more about my last post, as far as I'm concerned Jedi's musicvideos is at least 10 times better than flowers.mobi. It may not go for $2 Million any time soon and maybe not even $xxx, xxx any time soon, but that's the kind of thing a lot of people would want to be doing with cellphones imo, and not a whole lot of flower shopping. One of the great things about it, too, is that you can simply listen without watching the videos or do both.

godaddy has crashed on mobi, its shows all premium mobis are now available !

I think the .mobi whois database is not working...

Cannot do a whois search on mtld.mobi

I just 'regged' music.mobi, rock.mobi, and rocknroll.mobi a little while ago anyway. Maybe?

Who's giving that kind of pricing? Or is that per year?

resellerclub.com is at $8.49 per year..when general registration began it was the lowest price around.. also their other company website.in now has them for $8.99 per year..

Interesting thread.

First of all before we are "Domainers" we are "Investors." At least that is how I would describe myself. I decided that buying a few premium .mobi's would possibly be a good investment. Time will tell. I sure am not going to pitch anyone on the extension. I know what you know. In time we will all find out if flowers.mobi was a steal or a bad investment. The downside is it goes down in value or becomes worthless. The upside is that a domain like this can be life changing. I don't see that many opportunities that cross my path that fit into the "Life changing" category and I don't gamble much and don't buy lottery tickets. I am willing to take the risk and give it the time needed. Also take in to account that 4 people in the room bid over 6 figures for this domain. I knew all the bidders. They were all qualified.

All I can say....stay tuned and we'll all learn together.

well said.. and really thats it for right now.
bookmark these threads, and watch.

nobody knows the future, nobody knows if hype will = stability.

we shall see.

Rick,

The .mobi auctions were very exciting to listen to. I wish you the very best with your investment!

Sincerely,

Craig

I concur Rick.

I actually believe Flowers.mobi was a bargain. There are 4 times more cellphones than desktops around the globe. Dot mobi has global reach. Also, emergence of MobileTV will further propel the .mobi extension too.

Rick, thanks for coming here and sharing that. Yours is really the post that we have been waiting for in this thread -- flowers.mobi from the 'horse's mouth'. I understand flowers.com were there. They are probably kicking themselves over this one. IMHO, if any .mobi is to make it commercially, it has to be flowers.mobi.

"I forgot to send her flowers! What can I do? I'm miles from a computer, and I'd like at least to have a visual choice. Hey! That flowers.mobi site -- it has content formatted for my cell ..."

Now all you need to do is market the sh*t out of it. Good luck.

Now that I can sink my teeth into. They say buy the sizzle, and this thing has sizzle. I think I'm gonna spend some lunch money on this issue after all. The conspiracy ideas are fun, and having seen the actions of the other registries, who wouldn't question it? It worked in any event, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Moniker and Rick get some kindof brokerage deal on the release of the rest of the premiums. I'm betting a buck on it, do I have a taker on the other side?

I would say go for it and just buy just a few that make good sense to you. Small bet is no big risk. We bought 86 during first 2 days of landrush....its less than 1% of our portfolio. We could have bought 100s more later at lower prices than during landrush but one has to draw a line somewhere and we said 86 is enough which cost us over 5k. So you know your niche and buy few...just my 2cents.:greensmilewinkgrin:

nice post and nice purchase ... good luck with it - development plans?

Development plans?

Depending on the success of .mobi....absolutely. Probably as a joint venture so my time isn't any more tied up than it is.

Rick: You are right on the money on this.

I have been in domaining since 99 and have visited your site a lot of times to read your opinions since then. Sometime agreed and sometime I didn't, but like you said we need to take calculated risk and that's what I have done. I learned from the mistakes over the years and now sitting on a decent profitable portfolio that I was able to gather with our limited resources.

Btw, you are doing a great job for all of us domainers when you invest your time and intelligence bringing the domains in to mainstream. It is highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Rick

I just have to ask... Would you be interested in MusicVideos.mobi or Vlog.mobi?
