Whats up with all the constant garbage domains for sale, this site and the sales forums seem more and more like ebay everyday..Anyone else noticing this? Some of these names and prices are just insane and the sellers seem to think they actually are worth it, like "qtgwhjehg.biz now taking offers over $1500!" LMAO - what happened to all the good names for sale? :worried:

You both must have missed imposters.com a couple of days ago on sale for
$2k - I thought that was a great buy - unfortunately I missed it.
But on the whole I agree with you.

Bob the Jedi Master graced our presence! wow, I must have hit the nail on the head....not sure about the "imposters.com" domain..not sure how profitable or applicable that name is, although it is "one word"...I saw it when it went up and could have got it but did'nt see the value with it...personally that is...who knows maybe you could sell knock off items there? But back to my point it just seems like alot of BS on sale lately and I used to look forward to buying names here now I am starting to try not to...

I have found a few bargains on here actually. Just like at a yard sale you need to know what you're looking for. It takes some experience but some names are pretty obvious as good investments. About 90% is garbage and of the remaining 10% about 9% is overpriced (as far as what I am willing to pay). The 1% left over is what you'll spend your time looking for (gems). Look for sales by veterans too.

The best way to find decent names is simple.... go directly to the domain holder and make an offer. I do it quite often with reasonable success ($XXX-$X,XXX). Find out which names are of interest to you and do your research. There are a million different markets and products to sell online. Don't simply go by overture stats. Evaluate a number of criteria.

I can say I auctioned some good rev domains, two domains that made $3 per day each.

The auction went for $240

Who would auction decent names when you dont get anything for them on this forum?

The other day i put together a decent little auction, not super power names
but good list of names fakw.com sjyu.com wbwm.com wher.net
2195.net 4457.net 3424.net

I did not even get reg fees for them hardly Auction ended around $44

The only place I have made any money from selling has not been on this board.

I auctioned racoons.info in chat yesterday generic animal domain name, 1500 google indexed pages, 10 uniq or better a day. I got $20 for it.

So needless to say I will not be auctioning any more domains on this site, they will all go in sales offers section seeking offers.

You missed bs.net when I was willing to take $12K

You will likely miss my next LL org :)

I think it has become common for the bigger players here to avoid even appraising nice domains. Why? Perhaps they may be forced to pay that...lol

I have noticed alot of crap lately but when higher prices for premium names can be had elsewhere its a no brainer.

Mocus, keep your eyes open and pocket book read for a few sales Ill have in the coming couple weeks ;)

we should start our own little buyers club in a ring of like 10-20 people (well known members we have done biz with) and do it by email with avail names sent out weekly with reasonable BIN prices we all have for sale..that way the good guys dont miss the good names, and nobody gets lowball clowns making stupid offers etc etc

BS.net is nice...i'm not a huge .net fan personally...BUT it is a rockin 2 letter...12k is cheap

it would be nice, to have a scrolling or a billboard of really good domains for sale, there is so much junk in the sales forums now you can hardly find anything.

and all the stickys are just making it worse.

I know shadetree.com sold on here month or so ago for $20k

That should of been showcased some where.

Some people post lists of domains for sale 400 names long, you can even make good sense out of them.

(i think sales forums need to be re-organized)

Excellent idea, names must be approved by a specific individual ( an unbiased pro ;) )

I auctioned TropicalVideos.com for $11.

I appraised it within the high xx to low xxx range to a reseller.

Took my kids to Mc Donalds.

I agree but I like the scroll idea, maybe domains only adam approves but that will consume time, alot of time, maybe 1 domain per member submitted a month or something. Run through by price etc. Great little project but far beyond my capabilities :)

I have a great "eye" for name value and quality..I could easily oversee it...regardless of the BS I get myself into as far as world views and topics...one thing remains sure and thats that I know my domains..I don't think I have EVER lost money on a domain..

I agree with you, Chris. It's not so bad that people are posting crap (hey, one man's junk is another man's treasure), it's that you have wade through it to find the domains you like.

As fun as it is to post, talk, and cavort here, the bulletin board format is simply not efficient for the sale of domain names. Someone (Adam, are you listening?) should put together a NON-vBulletin sales system that allows the EASY (i.e., CSV upload) bulk posting of domains, including categorization. The system would then automatically determine registrar, expiration dates, registration information (to confirm ownership) so this info would not need to be provided by the seller (I can't stand "where is xxxxxx.com registered and when does it expire?" posts in my sales threads, but providing this info is laborious). In addition, it would be easy to adapt such as system to calculate Overture, linkpop, directory listings (maybe NameIntelligence would partner to provide this info).

Such a system would allow wholesalers to quickly liquidate domains, and buyers to find the domains they REALLY want (searchable by extension, length, category, registrar, you-name-it). In addition, with all the info above, you wouldn't be able to pull a scam on someone, and buyers would be more confident in their purchases.

P.S. If anyone is interested in working on such a system with me, send me an email at domains at diverge dot com. Maybe we could build it, then sell it to DNF. :)
