Now I could definitely afford that.

Remember the people coming have to cover plane/driving costs as well as hotel expenses and not everyone is exactly well off (yet). The more affordable we can make this for everyone the better likelyhood of it being a success, especially for newbies (which will be important for the success). I like the idea of having people from all viewpoints not just a closely nit faction held together by the sole purpose of money (although not totally bad). I think with enough promotion and support we could have a very good showing and probably even pull in some big names (Snapnames, BuyDomains, ENOM....and even other PPC companies that get a lot less "exposure"). with the help of some of the people here on the forum this could be a success. I think the key is planning far ahead as well as a few individuals taking the initiative to plan. I probably will only attend a conference in the United States (otherwise I might get beheaded lol). Does anyone think that having one on the West Coast (Vegas?) and one on the East Coast (Atlanta?) would sound like a good idea? If not where would be a good location? (St. Louis? Dallas? New York? Canada? j/k).

Vegas all the way baby. Might as well get my game on. lol

Not sure what you mean by two though, since most people would still fly in
it doesn't really matter where it's located (as long as in US).

Do you think there is a correlation between Vegas and the domain business?

POOL.COM is a GOLD Sponsor and, of course, will be there. Also, thank you MEDIAHOUND for registering.

"Oh and also does this place have wireless internet that we could tap into with laptops?" YES

As attendance is intentionally limited, there are only a few spaces left. Anyone who is thinking of going to T.R.A.F.F.I.C. 2004 should register now to guarantee attendance.

I had emailed the organizers and offered to come out and speak about the drop (and give away a few secrets to attendees only, to make it worth their while). They never bothered to even return my email to say, "no, thank you." I'm still willing, though time sure is short now.

And Howard, I'm still waiting to hear who's representing eNom there, as you said. Nobody here at eNom seems to know, and I do want to make sure that they have up-to-date information as a lot has changed.

Is that a trick question?

There's the confusion, Howard. Katie made the reservations and handled the logistics for the person attending; she's not attending, herself.

Thanks for clearing that up - I hate it when something doesn't seem right and I can't figure out what it is :)

That's one opinion, from a current board member.

Ask around.

Some folks who have left the board such as myself, George K., and NitroNet may have different opinions.

Opinions are like ass**les, everyone has one. Hal, I'm amazed it took you so long to get into this again. But don't let me hold you up from saying what you really think, we need the entertainment.

Let loose "Daddy"

Howard, as a lawyer, you know better than to cast a shadow on someones
character.

A classy comment would have been

"DADDY is no longer on our board."

I'm sure Howard meant to clear up Hal's implication that he "left" the board, which
was not the case. Howard's statement was factual, not "shadow-casting."

I may be unethical --or not.

But a lawyer who badmouthes clients, such as myself and John Zuccarini, is verifiable SCUM.

Lawyers are supposed to be fiduciaries, agents of trust, and dignified officers of the court.

Howard, grow the %$#& up!

A fascinating thread.

The conference seems like a great idea, and many of the people involved are very reputable, but the "invited guest" concept and the registration page ruin the whole thing.

Contributing Board Members $850
Past Board Members still in good standing $1000
New Members after May 1st $1000
Spouse and family $150 for entire family*
Invited non-board members $1,250
Uninvited Domainers and Industry guests $5,000
Past Board Members kicked off Board NOT WELCOME

Wording things this way and setting up such an outrageous fee for "Uninvited Domainers and Industry guests" is very unprofessional and it contributes to the popular impression that we are cybersquatters or hobbiests.

To set this up as a true professional conference you announce a single registration fee, possibly discounting advance registrations. If you want to give the Board (or "inner circle") a price break you don't advertise this fact. And there is absolutely no place for sarcastic comments about former board members. A conference like this should be open to all who choose to pay the fee.

I hope that this goes well and that attendees get a lot out of it - but someone needs to give more thought to the logistics and the P.R. in the future. People are laughing at us.
