Regarding the ideas for selling subdomains, I don't quite see why sears.customerservice.com is worth paying for when they could already have customerservice.sears.com

This is poor advice and needlessly sarcastic. Many high dollar domains appear dormant until the right buyer comes along

$40k is far too low. A mere pittance to larger companies who may aim to launch customer service online. Important to bear in mind that there is no better domain, no substitute. Continued patience and promotion along with gradual development will attract the right attention.

Realistic, not sarcastic. We're all waiting for the right buyer. This name has been registered since 1995. If some huge company had a pressing use for this name, they would have already contacted the seller and made a decent offer. I made an offer on this name when it was on Sedo. A got back a ridiculous counter offer.

Right now, we think that the potential for selling sub-domains is great and possibly very lucrative in the long run.
Also, there may be great potential to sell ads on the site.
Take a look at the current site...it's a customer service clearinghhouse and were getting a lot of traffic and 40+% CTR.
