When will the .me auction begin?

well oddly enough all 10 of mine are going to auction I wonder if there are really other applicants or if its a scam. I see names on there that i would highly doubt that there would multiples on.

like talk-to.me, kredit.me, schrijf.me, etisalat.me, downti.me

i wonder if all of them are just going thru the system.

I got several without auction. They are decent enough, however, they will go into development in order to gain traction. No parking for these as I see little or no type in traffic anytime soon.

I am so newbie and green at this I think I would bleed chlorophyll so please don't cut too deep! My first post here but hopefully not last.

I acquired a couple of .me domains. I understand that they would not receive type-in traffic so parking would be a waste, right?

What do you mean when you say your .me domains "will go into development in order to gain traction"? I have a couple dozen along the line of ledzeppelin.me (major band names). I also have several that are Maine city/town names.

Do you have any ideas for me? I have browsed through the newbie forum but I could use some general advice on the direction I should go and perhaps some resources on where to go and what to do to help them "gain traction".

Thanks,

Willie

I developed my one .me domain immediately after registration.

So far it's getting spidered by the major search engines quite a lot according to my stats.

Read everywhere on this site. Buy at least a platinum membership when you can afford it. Bad apples come through once in awhile, but a good crowd here for the most part. Read first. Don't go spending wildly on anything that may sound good. Be wary of new extensions :-)

I think the most logical use of .me is Maine cities (other than domain hacks, such as love.me, marry me, etc), but consider the population of the cities before you buy the names, and what return might be possible through the purchase, whether resellign the name, or through development.

ps: Welcome fellow Mainer! I'm currently in exile (Florida), but still have relatives (parents, nieces, nephews, etc) & property (Dexter mostly) up that way.

I think the question is now....

When will these auctions friggin end?

Development is the focus at this point. Since type-in traffice in most cases ends with the .com, then our chances of anyone typing in a name along with .me are very slim. The .me extension is pure marketing use only (IMO). Plenty of opportunity to develope a product/service on a keyword(s) .me. If your coming up on searches, that's where the traction is coming.

Of course, look into how SEO can better position your names. So much to say! Good luck.

Okay, will insure.me and translate.me ever end!:veryangry:

Can you tell when the period for a new bid causing an extension is? I think it is 12 hours. It is maddening, as is knowing the money is going right to Parsons :{

thanks,

Willie

Damn, another one I tried -- ping.me -- looks like it will go on forever.

lol. i had that one too. im just letting that one go. i like poke.me better

Is anyone in on barharbor.me? I'd like to get in on that one.

thanks,

Willie

Basically the vast majority of dot-me's registered by most dnf members are never going to be developed it will be worthless as far as revenue and traffic are concerned (except a select few which can be resold and possibly several good size Maine city names). That's because they will get no typeins or valid traffic (except maybe an occasional visit by another curious domainer).

Since I know so few of you do developing I would estimate more than 95% of the considerable money spent on all your .me names will be wasted. This will turn out to be a vast transfer of money from domainer pockets to the .me registry owners.

Even if china.me gets typeins it would take many years to get 10k ppc revenue for such a small population town with likely very low traffic.
