It's very common to find words or phrases with high searches in areas like entertainment (artists names), warez and hackers, among others, but that doesn't make them really a good investment. You should always ask yourself "what's the end user for this domain", what kind of business can be established with it".

theres still some great names available but you gotta dig deep. i've bought some just recently with xxx,xxx exact monthly local search (.com.mx). if .mx can subsume .com.mx and the market does well these should be worth some bank

you know, I wasnt going to because i thought it would be just a vanity domain for me, but your post made me take another look and i realized my name is taken in every extension.

Today I grabbed my name in Spanish, same spelling but with an 'o' on the end. Fairly common Spanish first name too I think.

they may be going cheap on sedo for now, but I think .mx has good potential. population of 110 million with about 25% internet penetration, english a second language and lots of english speaking visitors/tourists, well known country to Americans and Canadians, close trading partner of USA and Canada. Internet penetration will grow for sure. I think the timing of the release in a down economy has slowed the regs, but if you pick up good quality names now you should do ok.

Anyone picking these up at eurodns? I've grabbed up 3 great names but they aren't getting registered it appears (still showing up as available at other registrars). If they are waiting on price drops and I'm paying more than elsewhere as it is and I don't get them I'm going to be one unhappy customer.
