No point! If we ever master the 4th dimension, (time-space), we can just nip back in time and grab any domain we want before it's registered, thus making speculation absolutely pointless!

But, maybe it can be sold and resold many times over! Domainers are an optimistic bunch!

My one observation on 3D in general is that you must wear glasses. I really think that is going to limit things. I am sitting here watching TV from the edge of my eye while I do this. I might want to watch something in 3D now and then but you must be pretty dedicated to wear glasses the whole time. It will be a factor ahead but I (perhaps stupidly) predict not a huge one. It could even be primarily a fad but we'll see. Since I'm pretty sure that the big money names were gone long before this post, I am hold my money on this one.

They are actually developing 3D where you don't need glasses. In 10 years, it will be holographic imaging. This technology is exploding. In the meantime, I went and registered 3Dgamingcomputers.com

That is true but it might be called 'holo', 'holographic', or, again 'HD'. Eventually 'HDTV' and 'DTV' will become just 'TV' again as that is what it is. What 'SD' is still alive will be gone soon as HD sets become ever cheaper and old SD sets fail. Even if the times get slightly rough for it, you might want to hold the better 'HD' names! 'HTV' could also be an idea. My guess is that when holographic 3DTV comes along, marketers will want to distance it from the stuff that required glasses. Registrars, as always, will likely be the biggest winners no matter what!

Anyone sold any 3D domains? If so where did you sell them?

ALWAYS an excellent question for any domain class!!

Samsung 3D HDTV Glasses Get Priced

by Mike on February 28, 2010
in Consumer Electronics

samsung3dglasses.jpg

CES 2010 saw 3D technology come to the forefront of consumer electronics with TV manufacturers touting their new lineups. Samsung was one of those companies and recently, their new Samsung C7000 55-inch 3D LED TV went up for pre-order.

Most notable is this TV is missing a key accessory to make use of the 3D features and that is the absence of http://www.coated.com/samsung-3d-hdtv-glasses-get-priced/# No 3D glasses means no 3D programming. Samsung expects consumers to purchase a set of glasses which are priced at $150 each. If you have a family of four, you are looking at an additional investment of $600 above and beyond the purchase price of the C7000 which retails for $3,300.

Additionally, the3D glasses are designed only in adult sizes and require another expenditure for proprietary CR2025 batteries and apparently, these are not rechargeable batteries. 3D technology is new and a lot of TV makers know that they can overprice their devices, at least for now. In many ways, this is reminiscent of what we see with printers and expensive.

Perhaps in time, we’ll see a move away from active technology to a more passive technology that is deployed in local movie theaters which would certainly result in some cheap 3D glasses.

3D TV forecast: Sales will rise tenfold in next five years

March 1, 2010 | Paul Boutin | View commentsComments | Share

|

3d.jpg

Electronics market intelligence firm iSuppli issued a report Monday morning that claims 78 million television sets with 3D capability will be sold in the year 2015. ”The market so far has been more talk than action,” researcher Riddhi Patel wrote in a note accompanying the report. “However, announcements made before and after the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January indicate that 3D TV is becoming a reality.”

At CES, Patel wrote, Sony, LG, Panasonic and Samsung demonstrated home 3D sets. Other companies showed Blu-ray disc players that played 3D video from standard-sized discs.

For the next couple of years, iSuppli forecasts that only early adopters will spend the average $1,768 selling price for a 3D set. But it’s likely that TV makers will soon start adding 3D support to inexpensive models, rather than keeping it a premium feature. If you can buy a 3D set in five years for, say, $500, iSuppli’s forecast for a tenfold increase in the number of sets bought by home viewers in 2015 doesn’t seem like a stretch.

After 3D camera, Fujifilm launches "3D Print System" By siliconindia news bureau
Sunday,21 February 2010, 18:14 hrs

65639-top.jpg

Bangalore: Fujifilm has announced the development of the new "3D Print System" which achieves high-quality and natural 3D print captured with a 3D digital camera. This new system, the printer and a PC, is ideal for on-location 3D photography at tourist spots, theme parks, events, and other locations that offer photo printing services on site because it is easy to set up and requires small foot print, announced Shigetaka Komori, President and CEO of Fujifilm. Thanks to this new development in the field of 3D imaging, the enjoyment of 3D images will be more accessible to a wider audience than ever before. This new 3D Print System is scheduled to be available from 2nd Quarter of 2010.

Featuring Fujifilm's "Image Intelligencee" technology, the system employs a printing method that uses thermal sublimation to transfer images directly onto lenticular sheets to create a 3D effect. Prints will be available in four different types from 4x6 inches (10.2 x 15.2cm) to 6 x 9 inches (15.2 x 22.9cm). In addition, varieties of 3D prints are available including 3D composite prints using 3D templates.

This has been called the first year of 3D, with predictions for rapid mass-appeal of 3D image enjoyment, from sales of 3D televisions to the popularization of 3D images and contents.

Fujifilm pioneered 3D in the photographic industry in 2009 with the successful launch of the "FinePix REAL 3D W1" 3D digital camera and the "FinePix REAL 3D V1" 3D Digital Viewer allowing users, for the first time, to capture and view 3D images without wearing 3D glasses. Fujifilm has also been providing a 3D printing service for images taken on its camera.

These exciting launches in 3D have positioned Fujifilm as an industry leader in 3D photography. Now, with the new "3D Print System", Fujifilm will continue new product development and promotion initiatives in the marketplace, with a view toward even further expansion of the 3D imaging field.
